Anna Leigh Ashford
Annaleigh Amanda Ashford (born April 14th 1988) is an American actress, singer as well as a dancer. Her initial appearances on Broadway include the musicals Wicked Legally Blonde and Hair. Her performance on stage in You Can't Take It With You as Essie Carmahiel won her an award for the Tony Award in Best Featured Female Actress in a Play. Tony Award-winning actor Annaleigh Ashford spent the majority of her career collaborating with acclaimed actors and directors in theatre and on television. she will continue that work with several upcoming projects. Ashford's upcoming project is an exclusive Hulu series called Welcome to Chippendales, created by Robert Siegel. The show debuts on November 22 and Ashford plays opposite Kumail Najiani. Ashford has been involved in Searchlight Pictures' horror film Dust that stars Sarah Paulson alongside Ebon and Moss Bachrach. The film will be released on Hulu Original on Disney DTC. Ashford is set to appear alongside Josh Groban on Broadway's Lunt-Fontanne Theatre for the upcoming March 2023 revival of Stephen Sondheims Sweeney Todd. This show will be produced by Thomas Kail and produced by Jeffrey Seller, the team which created Hamilton. Ashford was most recently seen as Paula Jones in the new Ryan Murphy FX series American Crime Story Impeachment which is based on the nation's crisis, which swept across the country. Paula Jones Monica Lewinsky and Linda Tripp as principal characters for the first impeachment hearings in over a century. She was in two seasons of the popular CBS comedy B Positive. The show was created by Chuck Lorre with Marco Pennette. The show featured Linda Lavin as well as Hector Elizondo and Ben Vereen. Ashford is no stranger to Broadway. Her performance as Essie on You Can't Take It with You earned her Tony Drama Desk Awards and Outer Critics Circle Awards. Sunday in the Park starring George Wicked and Legally Blonde are just a few of her Broadway performances. Ashford lives in Los Angeles & New York. Her birthplace was in Denver & raised there.
