David Muir is an American anchor and journalist best known for his ABC news program World News Tonight with David Muir as well as for his role in the ABC News magazine 20/20, for which he serves as a anchor and co-anchor. With its animated gestures and dramatic videos of celebrity gossip, his show has become America's most-watched newscast. The anchor is also famous for his Emmy-nominated program Made In America. The show's predecessor Diane Sawyer was the anchor of ABC World News Tonight before becoming the anchor. In recent years, he has covered many ABC News primetime specials including Breaking Point Heroin in America. He has traveled around the world to cover stories from Gaza Egypt Iran Somalia Japan Peru Ukraine Haiti and the Gulf of Mexico. He has won numerous Emmy Awards Edward R. Murrow Awards as well as honors by The Associated Press.
